Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I blend art and music with technology as a software and hardware designer. Right now I’m focused on field recording, with sound design for films and theater.  Because of my art background, I enjoy collecting antiques and books. I have an instrument collection, record collection, book collection. . . . Collecting has come naturally through my career and the work that I do.

How did you first hear about Thingealogy?

I was brought on as a beta tester for Thingealogy, and in the process of testing the functionality of the app, I ended up using it for my own collections. The app came at a perfect time when I was struggling to organize my collections, helping me to document what I have and see my collections.

How are you using the app?

I had tried a lot of other apps to help with tracking my items and organizing my collections, but they weren’t flexible enough to do what I wanted them to do. For example, I have over 300 hours of sound recordings, and I could never find what I needed. Thingealogy has been very helpful for that. I have so many different types of collections, and with Thingealogy, I’m able to put everything in one place.

What’s your favorite feature of the app?

I like the ability to record audio files and store them with the photos of the objects. I’ve also been using this feature to record the sound that some of the objects make or the sounds that go along with the object.

What would you recommend to others who are just starting to use the app and want to get the most out of their experience?

If you have a lot of items, just start by taking photos. Later, you can write the descriptions of what the photos are. This process worked well for me.
